China expects to have over 300,000 vehicles fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2015, up by 15 times from approximately 20,000 vehicles at present, an industry executive said on Friday.

The country will expand LNG usage in city buses, coaches, heavy trucks and taxis, Gao Feng, deputy secretary general of China Road Transport Association (CRTA) said at the 2012 China International LNG Conference.

Its number of natural gas-fuelled vehicles, including those using compressed natural gas (CNG), will rise to 2m units by 2015, Gao said.

CRTA is a non-profit organization for the transport industry.

The four-day conference ends on Friday.
